Socratic Logic | Instructor: Dr. Austen Rockcastle

The purpose of this course is to develop the students’ natural ability to reason to the truth about themselves, their God and the world around them. Using philosopher Peter Kreeft’s Socratic Logic (along with other texts and worksheets as necessary), students will learn the basics of logical reasoning (clarity, truth and soundness) so as to be able to distinguish “good” arguments from “bad” arguments, and to develop their own logical reasoning skills regarding some of the most important issues in philosophy, theology, history, literature, psychology, mathematics, science, anthropology, and so on. Active, thoughtful student engagement both in class and at home will therefore be essential.

Meets: Thursdays 3:15-4:45pm
